Solskjaer hails three Man United players despite 2-1 loss vs Leicester City

Speaking after his side’s 2-1 loss against Leicester City on Tuesday night, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken the time to highlight three player’s performances.

Forced into making 10 changes following what is a gruelling two-week schedule, Solskjaer awarded youngster Anthony Elanga with his senior debut as well as awarded Amad with his first full Premier League debut.

Despite naming a youthful and exciting side, United went on to lose 2-1 on the night.

Irrespective of the final result though, Solskjaer has heaped the praise on debutant Elanga, Amad and goalscorer Mason Greenwood.

“We’ve had loads of games recently and had to make changes and that went against us a little bit,” Solskjaer told BBC Sport. “Amad [Diallo]] was very good. [Anthony] Elanga gave us something different and I thought Mason [Greenwood] was absolutely fantastic. I know what he can do finishing.

“It’s all the other bits, his robustness, resilience and the way he led the line tonight. He thought he needed to take responsibility and he did that the whole night but I had to take him off because he has played three games in five days.

“We did a bit in training yesterday and this morning so we did not have a lot of time to prepare and you could probably see that early on.”

United are now preparing to face bitter-rivals Liverpool on Thursday night in what is a rescheduled Premier League match.

However, despite the biggest game in English football just a matter of days away, undoubtedly, all focus will be on the side’s Europa League final against Villarreal at the end of the month.
