Conor McGregor confirms he has plans to takeover club – Man United on wish-list

UFC lightweight star Conor McGregor has confirmed that he does have future plans to own a football club.

Following the continued fall out clubs are suffering after their disastrous decision to form a breakaway European Super League, several high profile names have been quick to throw their names in the mix to become a football club owner.

Most recently, Spotify founder Daniel Ek has been linked with launching a bid to convince Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke to sell the Gunners.

However, as pressure mounts on US billionaires and United owners the Glazer family, the latest star to confirm their interest is Irish fighter McGregor.

Taking to his Twitter account recently, the 155lb mixed martial artist admitted two clubs he likes the idea of owning are United and Scottish giants Celtic.

It is not yet known how serious, if at all, the Glazers are about selling United, however, according to financial expert Kieran Maguire (via The Times), the US owners could be ‘persuaded’ into selling if a bid within the region of £4bn is made.
