Ole Gunnar Solskjaer labelled Edinson Cavani an ‘absolute top professional’ that his players can all learn from after Manchester United progressed through to the Europa League final.
United will face Villarreal in the final after an 8-5 aggregate victory over Roma.
The Reds were defeated 3-2 in the Stadio Olimpico with Cavani netting both United goals in fine style.
The Uruguayan veteran now has seven goals in six games and again proved how important it is that he is kept beyond this season.
Cavani ruthless thundered home United’s opener then expertly headed in an equaliser after a period where his defence briefly hit self-destruct mode after the pause.
Solskjaer has made no secret of his desire to retain Cavani for another year and again spoke highly of the 34-year-old in his post-match press conference.
The United boss said that Cavani does exactly what is needed from a centre forward both on and off the pitch and that he is a positive influence in his dressing room.
