Manchester United v Liverpool: Both clubs await news of rearranged fixture

A new date for Liverpool’s trip to Old Trafford is yet to be confirmed.

Liverpool were forced to travel back to Merseyside on Sunday evening as protests inside and outside the stadium forced the postponement of English football’s biggest fixture.

A Premier League statement explained that “the rearrangement of the fixture will be communicated in due course,” with talks ongoing between the two clubs and the local authorities.

There had been plans to play the match 24 hours late — on Monday night – but that is now not the case. Thankfully, too, because United travel to play Roma in the Europa League on Thursday night.

We are at the business end of the season and it sounds like another fixture will be moved to accommodate United v Liverpool, with the aim of playing the match on May 15/16.

Manchester United Supporters Trust explained why it does not want protests to become a “regular event”, it said in a statement earlier today, as per Sky Sports News.
