Manchester United women’s star Jackie Groenen admits she has joked at Donny van de Beek’s expense over his lack of playing time at Old Trafford.
Van de Beek joined United last summer from Ajax as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set out to bolster his midfield options. That said, the Dutchman has struggled to establish himself as a regular in the team and a lot of football people from his homeland in the Netherlands have been vocal against his move to United.
Despite this, Solskjaer has suggested that Van de Beek remains part of his plans at United.
Groenen, however, has been at United a bit longer – since 2019 – after she left the women’s team at Eintracht Frankfurt to become an important part of Casey Stoney’s side.
The Netherlands international hilariously revealed that she made a joke at Van de Beek by saying she had played at Old Trafford more times than him.
They talk “regularly” and Groenen believes Van de Beek is happy at United.

The United women’s star told ESPN: “I joked the other day by telling him that I’ve played Old Trafford more times than he has.
“I think he’s having a good time, so it must be fine. I talk to him regularly.”
