Manchester United concerned over anti-Glazer protest ahead of Liverpool clash

Glazers out!

According to ESPN, Manchester United are concerned elements of the anti-Glazer protest planned for Sunday could try to disrupt the 4.30pm kick off against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

We don’t know where the figure is coming from but a number of media outlets seem to think 10,000 fans will attend the protest this weekend. They are invited to come together to voice their anger at the Glazer family and to push for a 50+1 share model at the club.

United are worried that some fans may look to draw more attention to the protest by attempting to block the team coaches arriving. Anything from delaying kick-off or trying to get the game postponed.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has asked fans to protest peacefully.

“It’s important that the fans’ views are listened to and we communicate better,” Solskjaer said, as per The Guardian. “My job is to focus on the football side and that we have the best possible team.

“As I’ve said before I’ve been backed, I’ve had great support from the club and the owners and I’m sure I will get the backing again to go one step further. When the protests are on, it’s important they go in a good fashion and that we keep it peaceful.”

It’s typical that the club would try to rain on our parade. Joel Glazer and Ed Wooward have both spoke about communicating with fans in the past week, but the club’s response to the protest is to try claim there will be trouble before it even kicks off?

None of the Glazers took part in the fans’ forum meeting on Friday. That’s more proof that none of them want to hear the music.
