Ally McCoist reckons Aaron Wan-Bissaka should be in the England squad for this summer’s European Championships.

The 23-year-old has not yet represented England, receiving just one call up in August 2019 but pulling out due to a back injury, but he also played for DR Congo at youth level.

However, former Scottish footballer McCoist believes that the United right-back should be part of Gareth Southgate’s squad this summer.

He told TalkSPORT: “The one I’d be taking is Wan-Bissaka. If England draw France, who do you want on that right-hand side against Mbappe?

“The first job of a defender is to defend. England have got enough players in forward areas.”

I couldn’t agree more with McCoist, but I selfishly enjoy when England underappreciate United players. They did it with Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick, too.

Wan-Bissaka starts tonight’s game against Granada in the Europa League quarter-finals.

Southgate should consider players who have had long cup runs this season, as it’s valuable experience to have at an international tournament.

There’s not a better tackling full-back in the Premier League.
