Solskjaer wants to get deals done early in the transfer window

Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is focused on the upcoming games, the Manchester United manager couldn’t shy away from admitting he wants transfer deals done early this summer.

I’m sure it’s every manager’s dream to have a well functioned structure behind them, with a board willing to back his ideas. On top of that, getting deals over the line early comes with great benefit because it allows new signings to familiarise themselves with the club and their new team-mates.

Last summer was an odd one. No pre-season, COVID-19 and constant Jadon Sancho rumours, even though United never really feed the hype machine that was driven by media outlets.

I became tired of covering Sancho reports last summer because my confidence diminished early in the summer. Borussia Dortmund were asking for money they were never going to get for a player with a lot to prove still.

Solskjaer was asked by reporters about getting business done early this summer, and said (via Manchester Evening News): “The transfer window will come when it comes.

“I am just focusing on finishing the season strong.

“Everyone in this job would like to do deals as soon as possible, but my focus is on winning games.”

It remains to be seen who we are really targeting this summer, but the side needs a top centre-back to partner Harry Maguire, a defensive midfield who is gifted technically, and a right winger with an eye for goal.
