It won’t be the first time Sir Alex Ferguson swapped the football pitch for the racecourse.

The former Manchester United boss is looking to bag another win in Liverpool (Aintree) this weekend.

A little different to previous triumphs, mind.

As one of the owners of Randox Grand National runner Give Me A Copper, priced up at odds of 66/1, Fergie will be hoping the horse runs better than he did at Doncaster in January.

The 11-year-old finished a close second on his return this season on the back of a 357-day break, as well as a wind operation. It would take something special to see him win the race outright, but it may be worth a small each way bet if you are that way inclined.

Whether you gamble or not, it gives us all something to look out for in the Grand National this week. Hop on and enjoy the ride.

And there’s few things I like more than seeing Fergie win in Liverpool.
