Liverpool target on Man Utd’s radar as centre-back pursuit drags until summer

Manchester United need to sign a centre-back this summer and it looks like there’s renewed doubts over Eric Bailly’s future at the club.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be demanding a defender to lead from the back because a better, quicker centre-back than Harry Maguire could make a huge difference to our defence. Look at the games we’ve dropped points in this season and you will find defensive error one after the other.

It’s a weakness other teams have tried to take advantage of.

The Norwegian manager also continues to prefer Victor Lindelof and Inter Milan are reportedly keeping an eye on the situation as Bailly (via The Sun), who has just over a year left on his contract, is apparently frustrated after being overlooked for the second-leg against AC Milan in the Europa League.

Bailly has tested positive for coronavirus and was no available for the weekend win over Brighton.

There’s a number of centre-backs being linked with a switch to Old Trafford: Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, Sevilla’s Jules Kounde and Villarreal’s Pau Torres.

According to Eurosport, United also have an eye on RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate — who is being heavily linked with a summer transfer to rivals Liverpool.

The report claims Konate will cost around £34m and will be allowed to leave the Bundesliga club if the right offer is made.
