AC Milan want to enter negotiations with Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward Diogo Dalot, according to reports in Italy.

The Portuguese full-back joined Milan on a season-long loan in October after failing to force his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans.

Dalot has made 25 appearances for Milan this season and manager Stefano Pioli clearly values what he offers the team.

Soon a decision will need to be made in Milan as to whether they want to pursue Dalot beyond the loan agreement in place.

According to Corriere dello Sport, as per The Mirror, it is not known whether the Rosseneri will table another loan deal or a permanent one for Dalot.

Should Solskjaer hand Dalot another opportunity at Old Trafford?

We’ve seen no more than flashes of promise since he joined from FC Porto, and most fans would argue we need greater competition for places at right back to push Aaron Wan-Bissaka on, like the arrival of Alex Telles did for Luke Shaw on the opposite flank.

“The plan was always for Diogo this season, or the main thing for Diogo, was to be fit,” said Solskjaer earlier this month, as per ManUtd.com.

“He never managed to be fit for a long spell when he was here and was unfortunate with injuries.

“Now he’s kept fit all season; he’s been available for them. He’s playing at a big club, big expectations and a great history, so it’s been a good year for him.

“So, of course, I’ve been very pleased with his development this season. He’s our player and we’re looking forward to having him back.”
