Man Utd could use Donny van de Beek as transfer makeweight to make two key signings

Manchester United would reportedly consider offering Donny van de Beek as a makeweight to sign priority targets in the summer transfer window.

Van de Beek has failed to settle in at all under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, making just two Premier League starts since his arrival from Ajax.

He has been given sporadic opportunities but has started in every FA Cup game this term, and again failed to deliver as Untied were knocked out against Leicester at the quarter-final stage on Sunday.

A lack of form, consistency and confidence is causing Van de Beek to underperform on his rare chances to shine.

And according to 90min, that is causing United to already consider his future, barely six months after announcing his arrival.

90min reports that Van de Beek has been offered to Borussia Dortmund with United interested in signing three of the Bundesliga club’s stars.

It is claimed that United are targeting Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho this summer, while they are also keen on defender Manuel Akanji as a possible solution to their centre-back issues.

Dortmund are said to have been ‘receptive’ to the idea of Van de Beek being used as a makeweight, as United look to get creative in affording elite stars to accelerate their rebuild this summer.

It is added United are not yet resigned to defeat with the Van de Beek signing, but this could be an efficient way of making potential deals happen.

In reality, Solskjaer is only going to truly gauge whether the Dutch midfielder can be effective if he gives him an extended run of games in the team, which at the moment appears unlikely.
