Report: Eric Bailly to snub new contract offer at Manchester United

Eric Bailly is reportedly set to reject a new contract offer amid suggestions the centre-back is ‘furious’ with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for leaving him out of Thursday’s Europa League match against AC Milan.

Best known for his reckless streak on the football pitch, Bailly is a favourite among fans but struggles with injuries.

The 27-year-old’s medical record does not read well from a Manchester United point of view. A real shame because Bailly’s got tons of ability. Some of his attributes are exactly what we lack and need in a world-class defensive recruitment this summer.

However, it was confirmed by Solskjaer recently that the club will be trying to negotiate a new contract for the defender. But a report from The Sun claims after the manager selected Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire for the team’s second leg Europa League tie against AC Milan earlier in the week, Bailly felt ‘furious’ even though it’s not out of the ordinary for him to miss games.

Bailly played the first leg at Old Trafford but was left out of the squad for the reverse fixture.

The Sun claim to have spoken to a ‘dressing room insider’, who they quote saying: “Eric has done enough now.

“He simply doesn’t feel wanted or respected by the manager.

“Eric doesn’t believe he gets any answers or explanation about the way he is treated and feels he is the easy option to leave out.

“It’s a real shame because Eric always tells us he loves the club and feels the respect of the fans.

“But it’s got to the point this week where he has to think about his future.”

The article was written by Martin Lipton and we’ll soon find out how accurate it is.
