Marcos Rojo has spoken to Manchester United star Edinson Cavani about joining Boca Juniors.
Former Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo says he has been in touch with Edinson Cavani amid speculation surrounding the striker’s future.
The Uruguayan’s current deal at Old Trafford is set to expire at the end of the season.
He joined on a Bosman last summer when his PSG contract expired and there’s been a lot of talk in the media about a move closer to home.
Cavani’s father has been quoted as saying his son is unsettled in England and openly spoke about an apparent move to Argentine outfit Boca Juniors, as per Sky Sports.
Rojo was team-mates with Cavani at United until he left to join Boca in the January transfer window. He was asked about the striker in a post-match interview after drawing 1-1 with rivals River Plate, telling TNT Sports: “I spoke with him. I played a little with him. We were together for four or five months.
“He is a great professional and if he reaches Argentine football, he would be a great star that would do Argentine football good.”
We’ve still not heard whether United will take up the option to extend Cavani’s deal by a further year, but hopefully he can do enough between now and the end of the season to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer win his first trophy as United manager.
