Ole Gunnar Solskjaer conceded that a draw was ‘probably’ a fair result after Manchester United succumbed to a crucial late AC Milan equaliser in the Europa League.
United were again let down by set-piece defending as Simon Kjaer headed in a late away goal giving Milan momentum heading into the second-leg.
Amad scored his first goal for the club five minutes after his half-time arrival with a special back-header following an exquisite pass from the otherwise quiet Bruno Fernandes.
Solskjaer was pleased with Amad’s impact and lauded the through ball of Fernandes that created his goal.
Dean Henderson was at fault for Kjaer’s late header but Solskjaer pointed at the lack of structure in United’s defence as the primary reason for conceding the goal.
He said that United dropped too deep from the set-piece and failed to attack the ball to clear the danger.
Next week’s second-leg at the San Siro is finely poised at 1-1 and Solskjaer hopes to have injured forwards Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial back in action for that fixture.
