Gary Lineker shameless pun after Shaw scores v Man City

Boasting over 7 million followers on Twitter, Gary Lineker’s tweets tend to appear on our timeline every match day. Today he seemed happy after Luke Shaw doubled Manchester United’s lead over Premier League leaders Man City.

The Manchester derby went our way this evening and I was buzzing at full-time thinking back at everyone who gave United such a little chance against their rivals today.

City are running away with the league but we showed again why we’re on the verge of becoming the only team able to compete with them. You can forget about Liverpool.

Over the course of the season it’s difficult, as they show incredible levels of consistency year after year, and hopefully we’ll be closer again next term.

Luke Shaw is a player who has been a big part of this rebuild under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and not many were saying that in the summer when the club completed the transfer of Alex Telles from FC Porto.

The Brazilian hardly gets a look in at Old Trafford now. It’s all about Shaw who has been the best left-back in England this season.

He scored today against City and Lineker couldn’t help himself with a shameless pun: “Are you Shaw?”

We just about enjoyed that.
