Hearing that Bruno Fernandes is set to sign a new contact at Manchester United has put me in a good mood. I needed some positivity after watching our performance on Wednesday night against Crystal Palace.

The Portuguese midfielder has been the best player in the last two campaigns for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. He wasn’t able to help his team-mates at Selhurst Park but Fernandes has done more than enough to warrant the talisman label since joining the club from Sporting Lisbon.

According to The Sun, Fernandes is in line for a double-your-money pay rise at the end of the season. The report unfortunately focuses on the amount of money he earns currently, in attempt to make it seem like he is underpaid on £100,000-a-week.

Of course, the Portugal international earns more in incentives and bonuses, but he is behind the likes of David de Gea and Paul Pogba on the wage list.

The article goes on to speculate: “De Gea is around £375,000-a-week, Pogba about £290,000 with Anthony Martial slightly behind.”

Fernandes signed a five-and-a-half-year deal with the option of a further 12 months in January 2020.
