Manchester United’s back-up goalkeeper Dean Henderson has been handed a huge boost after reports claim David De Gea is set for a period of absence.

Henderson, 23, was recalled to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting line-up for the Red Devils’ Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

Despite the dull encounter ending in a drab 0-0 draw, Henderson put in another fine performance and was arguably the main reason United didn’t the game 1-0.

A last-ditch save in the match’s closing moments ensured the Red Devils didn’t leave Selhurst Park completely empty-handed.

However, despite putting in a rock-solid performance, even if the game was far from a spectacle, Henderson would have undoubtedly been concerned he’d soon lose his place to De Gea again.

After the Spanish international was ruled out of Wednesday’s game for ‘personal reasons’, Solskjaer has recently been forced to reassess his goalkeeping options.

However, in what could potentially prove to a huge boost for Henderson, according to a recent report from MEN journalist Samuel Luckhurst, the English shot-stopper is now set for a prolonged period in between the sticks.
