Roy Keane and Graeme Souness both questioned Anthony Martial’s love of the game in damning verdicts ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Chelsea.
Martial has been left out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting lineup at Stamford Bridge, with the United boss preferring an attacking trident of Daniel James, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford.
The French forward has just four Premier League goals this season and his exclusion, particularly when Edinson Cavani is unavailable, is indicative of his current form.
Martial improved in Thursday’s 0-0 Europa League draw against Real Sociedad but starts on the bench in West London alongside Amad and Donny van de Beek.
His attitude and desire has been questioned plenty of times over the course of his United career and was again discussed by Sky Sports pundits Keane and Souness ahead of the Chelsea fixture.
Souness thinks the 25-year-old will look back at his career with regret while Keane added that ‘it doesn’t look like he loves the game’.
