Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has confirmed that fans can expect to see a strong showing during the second half of the season.
The young defender, who also featured in a holding midfielder role against Real Sociedad, had a fine game and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet.
After team-mate Victor Lindelof was deemed to have committed a foul, Tuanzebe saw his second-half bullet header ruled out.
Despite a drab 0-0, one player who will be glad to have racked up some well-deserved minutes is Tuanzebe.
After struggling with injuries and fitness issues earlier in the season, the centre-back has featured in just six Premier League appearances during the 2020-21 season.
However, after coming on at half-time, Tuanzebe appears to now be fully focused on getting back to his best, once again.
Speaking after Thursday’s Europa League match against Real Sociedad which saw the Red Devils progress to the next round, Tuanzebe has hailed the side’s positive results and hailed the work Solskjaer is doing.
“(Being played in midfield) is just something the gaffer did, we did not get the win but we are through,” the defender told BT Sport (as quoted by BBC).
“I am a versatile player, my natural place is central defence but I did it for the team. It is a while since I played in midfield but most important thing is that we are through.
“The season has been up and down for me and we need to get more minutes and momentum.
“This is Man United, all players who play for us are talented and the manager always has options. the personalities that United bring through are determined players and that shows when we get the chance to play.
“It takes a while to get momentum going, have faith in the manager and we are starting to build that. It is not something done in a year or two, it is a long project and having faith in the coaching staff. The results are coming through.
“The disappointments always stay with you and you do not want to feel like that again, you try your best and ensure it does not happen again.”
