Video: Solskjaer happy with progress Dan James has made from hard work

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer trusted Daniel James by starting him tonight against Newcastle and the Wales winger got his name on the scoresheet as Manchester United beat Newcastle 3-1 at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer admitted United had to increase the tempo in the second half, but that became more clear in the final 15 minutes or so. A lot of balls went astray in the first half but Newcastle had little chance once we began to move quicker.

The manager took some time to praise Daniel James for his performance — and second goal in the space of three days — and credited all his hard work and willingness to knuckle down in the past year.

“Dan James has been working hard behind the scenes,” Solskjaer told BT Sport.

Solskjaer also touched on how he wasn’t happy with the goal United conceded.
