Nicky Butt and Mark Dempsey will join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the Manchester United bench for today’s match against Newcastle after other members of the coaching staff had to self-isolate, the club have announced.

Butt’s current role at the club sees him as head of development and today he will be assisting Solskjaer with first team duties.

Former United player Dempsey returned to the club in 2018 as part of Solskjaer’s staff, so the pair obviously have a good working relationship but ultimately, we are just gunning for three points against the Magpies.

It is understood there are no concerns that any players will need to isolate, as per ManUtd.com.

Coaches play a big role on matchday, but the players know what they need to do in order to beat Newcastle today, and I’m demanding a solid performance like we got on Thursday night in the 4-0 win over Real Sociedad.

Newcastle have been dire this season. They are also without Callum Wilson who has a muscle problem.

We can have no excuses if we don’t beat them later on. None.
