Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that back-up goalkeeper Dean Henderson is ‘in with a shout’ to start against Newcastle United in Sunday’s Premier League match.
After putting in a brilliant performance against Real Sociedad on Thursday night in the Europa League, Henderson, who kept a clean sheet during a 4-0 win, could be in-line for another start.
The English keeper has started just three Premier League matches and will be desperate to string a run of games together as his continues in his pursuit to become the Red Devils’ number-one.
Looking ahead to Sunday’s important domestic match, Solskjaer, when asked if Henderson is likely to start against the Magpies said:“Of course Dean is in with a shout.
“We pick a team Saturday and Dean tonight he was very solid, good kicking, could of, should of had an assist for Marcus [Rashford]; which is another thing that we worked on today.
“We was clean in his handling, clean with his short passes so good performance. He’s maturing all the time.
“But I have very very good keeper in David [De Gea] as well. He saved us against West Brom.”
