Ex-Hammer happy with Lingard’s impact at West Ham

West Ham sit fifth in the Premier League a place ahead of Liverpool.

The joke right now may be on Jurgen Klopp’s side but we are not blind to the fact Manchester United need to start winning football matches again.

Jesse Lingard is turning heads at the London Stadium, on loan from United for the remainder of the season, after netting a brace against Aston Villa on his debut. He absolutely ran the show with a superb display against Sheffield United, too.

I’d like to see it work out for Lingard at West Ham because I don’t think his chances of turning things around at Old Trafford should be written off. David Moyes gave him a chance he thoroughly deserved, and so far so good.

He looks reinvigorated after being handed a new lease of life on the pitch. The most important thing is that he’s playing games, which is nothing something that was happening during the first half of the season.

Ex-Hammers striker John Hartson took to Twitter to praise Lingard’s performance against the Blades, joking he hasn’t seen someone have this impact on a West Ham team for 24 years – since he joined the club in 1997.

Hartson scored 33 goals in 73 games for West Ham.
