Harry Maguire came super close to winning the game for Manchester United with seconds left on the clock, but former academy goalkeeper Sam Johnstone made an incredible save to deny him and rescue a point for relegation bound West Brom.
When you look at the Premier League table it’s hard not to see Man City running away with the title, and it’s not very encouraging that we slip away to West Brom when our ultimate aim should be to put pressure on our rivals and secure a second-place finish.
So, another bump in the road for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with his side forced to settle for a point at the Hawthorns. It’s worrying that afterwards, despite Maguire’s chance at the very end, I don’t feel as though we deserved to win the game.
Most of the players walked through the first half and that showed when United only really got playing after 44 minutes. They started the second half better but didn’t do enough to win the game.
Maguire’s effort was prevented by Johnstone who made a fingertip save to flick the ball onto the post and away to safety.

Twitter reacts to Johnstone’s save at the very end
I thought it was buried. With all the criticism I’ve aimed at Harry Maguire not for hitting the target enough from headers, I was about to happily eat my words but Johnstone had to turn into Buffon and ruin it. He received words of praise from former United goalkeeper Alex Stepney, and many others.
Credit to Sam Johnstone, super save at the end.

Unbelievable save from Sam Johnstone at the death. Sensational.

What save that is by Sam Johnstone. Unreal. United got exactly what they deserved. Not good enough. #mufc

Why does Connor Gallagher turn into prime Pirlo and Sam Johnstone into prime Schmeichel whenever we play West Brom 🤦♂️🤦♂️

Sam Johnstone with a fingertip save at the end of the match just to really rub it in.
