This is one of my favourite Premier League goals.
Ten-years-ago today, Wayne Rooney scored an incredible goal against Man City which lifted bums off their seats. On top of that and nobody in the stadium believed what they had just seen.
Dimitar Berbatov, Paul Scholes and Nani all played a part in the build-up play, but it was the Portuguese winger who sent a perfect cross into the box. Thankfully Rooney was willing to go airborne with some acrobatics.
What came next was majestic, even if the ball came off Rooney’s shin. Maybe that makes it even better because to hit the target with your shin takes real skill.
What a player!
Joe Hart couldn’t do anything about it because of how the ball was struck. A thing of beauty.
