Shola Shoretire has signed his first professional contract with Manchester United, the club have confirmed.
The announcement caps off a memorable week for the teenage forward after he scored a hat-trick in United U23’s’ 6-4 victory over Blackburn Rovers on Friday.
Shoretire, 17, featured alongside United’s new signing Amad at Leigh Sports Village but stole the show after pummelling three goals.
The England U16 international has been in United’s academy system since the age of nine and this represents a huge step in his progress as he aims to graduate and become a first-team player under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
He has played a key role in Neil Wood’s development squad this season, netting five goals and registering three assists in 13 Premier League 2 games.
Shoretire trained alongside Amad with Solskjaer’s first-team squad on Monday at Carrington ahead of United’s FA Cup fifth round tie against West Ham at Old Trafford.
It is unlikely that Shoretire will be involved in the clash against the Hammers but he is likely to start against Arsenal on Friday when United’s U23 host Arsenal at Leigh Sports Village.
