Club Brugge manager Philippe Clement has hinted that the club may look to make on-loan winger Tahith Chong’s move permanent.
Chong, 21, joined United’s youth academy in 2016 after making the switch from Feyenoord’s academy.
Despite being one of the club’s most highly-rated attackers, Chong has struggled to force his way into his manager’s first-team plans.
After being directly involved in an impressive 44 goals in all competitions for the Red Devils’ under-18s and under-23s squads, Chong was awarded with his first-team debut in 2019.
However, after struggling to make the step-up, Chong managed just two assists in 16 appearances and was subsequently shipped out on loan.
The young Dutch attacker joined Werder Bremen during last year’s summer transfer window, however, after struggling to gain minutes, Chong requested to be transferred elsewhere, as per ManUtd.
Now with Belgian side Club Brugge, the on-loan winger has hit the ground running.
After being named in his new side’s team to face Olsa Brakel earlier this week in the Belgian Cup, Chong went on to score the game’s sixth goal, with the match eventually ending 6-1 to Brugge.
Speaking about Chong’s impressive start, manager Clement, who spoke to broadcasters HLN (as quoted by MEN), said: “You can see that he has had a good education.
“Tahith picks up things faster than boys who have had a less good education. Or than players who come from another continent. It all goes faster with him. If you tell him something, he answers.”
“Maybe he doesn’t want to leave later, maybe he wants to stay here.”
