Manchester United winger Tahith Chong has had his loan at Werder Bremen terminated in order to move to Club Brugge in a similar deal.
The Netherlands U21 international has spent the first half of the season in Germany but would’ve hoped for more than 13 outings, in total, for Werder Bremen.
It can be disappointing for a player to be overlooked and rather than wait and allow for the situation the worsen, it sounds like United have intervened at the right time to ensure Chong plays football elsewhere.
Chong was an unused substitute during the 1-1 draw with Schalke this afternoon. That suggests that United were keeping an eye on things before deciding enough was enough.
Club Brugge currently lead the Belgian top-flight and United are hoping Chong gets the football he needs once a medical is completed, as confirmed via ManUtd.com.
“It’s been a pleasure to represent this club [Werder] for the last few months,” Chong said on Twitter. “Even though it wasn’t long, I learnt a lot and I leave the club with some great memories and friendships. Good luck for the rest of the season.”
