West Ham closing in on Lingard loan deal with £1m fee going to Man Utd

It sounds like Jesse Lingard will be leaving Manchester United on loan this month.

The midfielder is hardly a fringe player in the squad anymore with Amad Diallo likely to take take his place, with Manchester United adding a right-winger to the fold earlier this month.

Lingard has not played a lot of football in the past year which is a shame. Not because I think he should be playing for United, but at 28-year-old it’s not good enough to someone’s career sat idle.

A move to West Ham is being reported by The Athletic and we cited claims yesterday that West Brom were also interested in loaning Lingard.

The latest from David Ornstein states West Ham are set to pay a loan fee of £1m to secure Lingard’s services for the remainder of the season.

West Ham, who are said to be looking for a striker, could drop that interest if they secure Lingard in the coming days with the transfer deadline quickly approaching.

Whatever move that brings Lingard football should be seen as a positive one.

I think looking back he will find himself guilty of overstaying his welcome at United, but I wish him well and hope he can rediscover his taste for the beautiful game.
