Borussia Dortmund relying on Jadon Sancho sale after £88m losses from pandemic

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly relying on the sale of Jadon Sancho to balance their books in the summer, while Jesse Lingard and Facundo Pellistri could both leave Manchester United this month.

The transfer window is open but Manchester United are not expected to make any major signings this month.

They have confirmed the addition of Amad Diallo from Atalanta but he’s expected to be the only new face in the squad before the summer.

There are several fringe players who could follow Timothy Fosu-Mensah’s route out of the club before the window shuts, with the likes of Marcos Rojo, Sergio Romero and Phil Jones all earnings wages but playing no football.

The headlines were dominated daily by a Sancho-United story in the summer and it remains to be seen if we’ll have a reoccurrence of that this year. Dortmund also have a striker I think United should be showing more interest in…

Ultimately, United refused to meet Dortmund’s asking price for the right winger, with The Mirror claiming they wanted an offer of £108m for his signature.

According to Sport1 (cited by The Mirror), United have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Sancho, with Dortmund said to be expecting loses of £88m as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

It sounds like they will have to settle for less than what they were demanding a year from now.
