Manchester United are on their travels again with a trop to Fulham’s Craven Cottage on the cards.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are looking to extend their remarkable unbeaten run in the Premier League to 13 games, and will be disappointed not to have come away from Anfield on Sunday with three points.
Three points tonight in London would see Solskjaer’s side leading the title race again after Leicester City’s 1-0 win over Chelsea saw Brendan Rodgers’ men move to first in the Premier League standings.
United were unable to make most of their chances at the end of Sunday’s clash with Liverpool, but win at Fulham tonight and Sheffield United in the next league game and we’ll be looking at that trip to Anfield thinking it was a good point.
While I feel it’s too early to be talking about a title race, it looks like we’ll see a title race wide open this year. As things stand only 5 points separate United, Man City, Leicester, Liverpool, Tottenham and Everton.
According to this site, United are among the favourites and rightly so but I would still think we are 2-3 signings away from seriously challenging City.
Fulham are in the relegation zone, four points away from safety, but had gone 5 games unbeaten before losing to Chelsea 1-0 on Sunday.
What time is kick-off between Fulham v Manchester United
The game begins at 8.15pm — but Man City could be ahead in the Premier League standings by then, since they take on Aston Villa at 6pm. Both of these matches will be shown by BT Sport and subscribers can stream the two encounters through the BT Sport app.
Solskjaer is expected to rest a few players tonight, with one eye on Sunday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie against Liverpool.
Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes are all one yellow card away from suspension — but I couldn’t see a United team tonight without any of those three. Shaw is in terrific form but it would make sense to play Alex Telles on the left tonight, keeping Fernandes in the side as our main goal threat, and Maguire leading the way from the back.
Fulham are without two players — suspended after their weekend defeat against Chelsea. Antonee Robinson was sent off and Bobby Decordova-Reid who picked up his fifth booking of the season.
Our defence will be need to be ware of Aleksaandar Mitrovic who enjoys a physical battle. Let’s hope this fixture sees a return of Eric Bailly because the Ivorian has been excellent of late.
