Video: McTominay beats Liverpool’s press and skins Firmino in the process

It’s fair to say that both teams fixed their weaknesses for the mega-clash at Anfield which turned into a stalemate.

At the same time, I’d argue both teams were fixated on that rather than going to win the game, but we’re happy with the point so long as Manchester United go on to beat Fulham and Sheffield United next.

Luke Shaw deserved the man of the match award for his world-class display at left-back, but Scott McTominay was another one of United’s standout performers as he protected the back-four from midfield.

Liverpool’s Thiago made his Anfield debut and was a threat from the middle. However, the Brazil international and his team-mates couldn’t break down United.

McTominay started alongside Fred in the middle with the duo recently establishing themselves as the preferred choice in most big games for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Scotland international also gave us a glimpse of his ability on the ball in the first-half and skinned Liverpool front man Roberto Firmino in the process. He singled-handled beat Liverpool’s press when United tried to play out from the back.

McTominay then found Bruno Fernandes with a long pass, allowing United to launch another counter-attack.
