David Moyes plays down Declan Rice to Man United rumours

West Ham have had no contact from either Chelsea or Manchester United over Declan Rice, according to Hammers manager David Moyes.

Rice is one of West Ham’s star players and has started in all 18 of their Premier League fixtures to date this season.

The England international has been linked with a move away from West Ham, with United and Chelsea both reportedly interested, but Moyes insists that the London club have had no contact from either club.

ESPN this week suggested that United had entered the race to sign Rice.

However, I don’t think the midfielder will be at West Ham for long, I don’t think anyone is seriously expecting any of the clubs mentioned to make a move for Rice midway through the season.

Moyes down played the reports, speaking to Amazon Prime (cited by the Daily Mail): “They’re not true, we’ve had no contact from either of those clubs regarding Declan and we wouldn’t want any anyway.

“He’s doing great for us, he’s a big leader now, he’s taken a lot of the weight off Mark Noble. He’s turning out to be a really good player but also a really good boy and good around the club.”

West Ham sit ninth in the Premier League and are in a much better position than they were when Moyes returned to the club in 2019, after not being offered a new contract in 2018…

Moyesy is finally doing a good job again and I don’t begrudge him one bit, but he was never the right man for United and it still baffles me that he got the job in the first place.
