Manchester United will be busy preparing to take-on arch-rivals Liverpool in Sunday’s mouth-watering Premier League clash. However, the red half of Merseyside may not be feeling quite as comfortable about the upcoming tie, as defender Joel Matip looks set to be ruled out through injury.

United and Liverpool are set to collide during Sunday’s blockbuster fixture list with the standout tie obviously being the one being played at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have recently seen themselves positioned at the top of the table for the first time since New Years Day, 2013.

However, despite Old Gunnar Solskjaer’s men being in brilliant domestic form, the Red Devils will be all too aware of the threat their rivals pose.

Outdone and outplayed by Liverpool for the majority of the last three seasons, Sunday’s game could be a real chance for United to get their own back.

Solskjaer will undoubtedly be busy preparing his exciting Reds for arguably their biggest match-up to date, and ahead of the weekend’s exciting tie, United have been handed a boost as defender Matip looks set to be sidelined.

Liverpool reporter for The Athletic James Pearce revealed the news that Matip is a major doubt for Sunday’s match on his social media, and put the question as to who should replace him to the fans.

Take that wouldn’t we Reds?

  1. Probably UTDs best time to beat Lpool,Henderson as centre back would be great to our attack, and get at their defence.Bailly MUST play and leave Lindlelof and the hapless” Fred on the bench please OLE. A few nervous Scousers about these days, not seen that for a while, talking to UTD fans in MCR this week, they just want the game and get stuck into them, and take 3 points, though 1 would be ok,
