Video: Loads of Man Utd fans make Donny van de Beek plea after magical skill vs Watford

Manchester United fans believe Donny van de Beek is too good to be left out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting lineup.

Van de Beek was handed a rare start as United progressed through to the FA Cup fourth round with an uninspiring 1-0 win over Watford at Old Trafford.

The Dutch midfielder was quietly effective throughout, without making the type of profound impact that makes him undroppable for Tuesday’s Premier League clash against Burnley.

But the standout moment, perhaps in the whole game, was van de Beek’s glorious flick to Juan Mata which created a glorious opening for the chance for the Spaniard.

Solskjaer opted to start van de Beek in a more withdrawn role in the midfield axis with Scott McTominay, but his brightest moment came in an advanced position as his perfectly weighted back heel found Mata through on goal.

Unfortunately, Mata couldn’t convert for what would have been a sumptuous assist for the 23-year-old.

But van de Beek showed fans enough quality in the game to elicit calls for him to have a more regular first-team spot under Solskjaer.
