The family of former Manchester United manager Tommy Docherty is to give all the donations from his funeral to a Stoke-on-Trent shelter for the homeless.
Former United winger Lou Macari said he was ‘pretty chuffed’ at the kind gesture, as per StokeonTrentLive, which resulted from a phone call with The Doc’s widow Mary on Saturday.
The Macari Centre recently relocated to a former warehouse, which has 25 individual accommodation pods.
They have yet to decide how the funding donated in memory of The Doc will be spent but we’re sure it will go a long way.
It’s important that we go that extra mile to help those vulnerable during this global pandemic.
Check out Macari’s tweet below:
Just spoken to The Doc's widow Mary and she says she wants donations for his funeral to go to the Macari Centre for the homeless, a wonderful gesture in memory of a wonderful man, thank you Mary #MUFC
