Gary Neville explains why Jack Grealish won’t complete Man Utd transfer

Gary Neville praised Jack Grealish during Aston Villa’s 2-1 defeat against Manchester United on Friday night but explained why the 25-year-old won’t be moving to Old Trafford anytime soon.

United targeted Grealish earlier this year (via Daily Mail) but a deal never materialised after Donny van de Beek arrived in the summer. While the Dutchman doesn’t play every week, the Villa star is becoming one of the most consistent stars in the Premier League after keeping his boyhood club in the Premier League last season.

Grealish ended up signing a new 5-year contract at Villa on the eve of the season.

With the England international performing well, it has been reported that United could rekindle their interest but Neville believes it is “unlikely” because of the midfield options Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already has at his disposal, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.

“I think it’s very unlikely Manchester United would move for Jack Grealish, as good as he is,” Neville said on Sky Sports during the match.

“When you think of Van de Beek, Pogba, Fernandes, the type of players they have. There are no doubts, there were accusations about style over substance but now he’s delivering on a consistent basis. He’s a brilliant player for Aston Villa.”

It doesn’t look like Villa will be fighting against relegation this season and it looks like Grealish is finally enjoying his football in the Premier League.

I wouldn’t say there’s no chance because United could go for Grealish if Pogba leaves in the summer.
