Mauricio Pochettino leading to race to replace Thomas Tuchel at PSG

Mauricio Pochettino could be in line to become the new manager of Paris Saint-Germain after Thomas Tuchel was sacked on Christmas Eve.

Tuchel departs with PSG one point behind Ligue 1 leaders Lyon along with having secured their spot in the last 16 of the Champions League, as reported by Sky Sports.

Stretty News understands Pochettino is a manager United have had an interest in for some time, but as things stand they see no reason to part ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. It’s simply a non-runner for the Argentine at this time.

The Norwegian is doing a good job as United manager and we don’t see enough reason to change management. Better players are needed but that’s down to recruitment.

Pochettino wasn’t going to be available forever either. I’m surprised he’s gone this long without accept a big job, but at PSG he will be challenged again to win trophies. I’m not sure he will get any credit for Ligue 1 titles though.

Anyhow, various reports are suggesting Pochettino is the clear favourite to replace Tuchel.

Respected Italian football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Pochettino is set to become the new PSG manager.

Despite leading PSG to their first ever Champions League final last season, Tuchel has been dismissed from his role and this could spell the end of rumours linking Pochettino to United every time we lose a match.

PSG will face Barcelona in the knockout round when the competition resumes in 2021.
