Manchester United will be looking to book their place in the semi-finals of the League Cup when they face Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.

The Reds go into the game on the back of a terrific 6-2 victory over Leeds United in the Premier League whilst the hosts ran out 2-1 winners over Arsenal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to make changes for the clash against Everton with Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Juan Mata and Donny Van De Beek all in contention to start.

Having already beaten Everton earlier in the season Solskjaer knows what it takes to beat the Toffees. United’s away from this season has been impressive and it will take a similar type of performance needed again this time round should United wish to progress to the semi-finals.

Everton look the real deal this season under Carlo Ancelotti and are more than a match for anyone but this is still a game I expect United to win albeit it will be close.

For how well Everton are going forward they are vulnerable at the back and Solskjaer will no doubt look to exploit that on Wednesday night.

It’s been a up and down season so far for Manchester United.

Exiting the Champions League was a bitter pill to swallow for the Reds faithful and it will still take some getting over but it must be remembered that United sit only five points off the top of the Premier League, with a game in hand. Victory over Everton on Wednesday night would book United a place in the semi-finals of the League Cup  and with the FA Cup around the corner in the new year there is still room for optimism and plenty to look forward to.
