David Beckham owned Inter Miami aim to land out of favour Manchester United star

It’s no secret that Sergio Romero has fallen out of favour at Manchester United.

He should be third choice, but it feels like Lee Grant has been selected on more occasions than Romero this season, and a report from the Daily Mail labels him ‘fourth choice’.

Romero was not named in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Premier League or Champions League squads but is still training.

All considered, even as a Manchester United fan, I could only advise Romero on finding a new club as soon as possible. His career is not over and he could be playing week in week out at another club.

David de Gea and Dean Henderson are miles ahead of him in Solskjaer’s goalkeeping pecking order.

According to the Athletic, Inter Miami are keen to sign Romero in the January transfer window.

This could end an happy spell in Romero’s time at United — but for the most part he was an excellent servant as second choice. He played a big role in our successful Europa League campaign in 2017.

Manchester United legend David Beckham is president of Inter Miami — a club formed in 2018 — and he may want to use his United connections to help build the ‘franchise’.

Romero’s contract at United expires in June 2021, meaning clubs outside England can start negotiations with the player and his representatives from the start of January.

His current wage of around £100,000-per-week is thought to be a stumbling block.
