Bayer Leverkusen join race to sign Manchester United academy graduate on loan

Brandon Williams is attracting interest from across Europe.

The young Manchester United full-back is wanted by Bayer Leverkusen as well as Southampton, as per the Telegraph.

These clubs are aware that the young Englishman can play left and right-back which makes him attractive in the market for full-back cover.

But isn’t that something United haven’t got at right-back?

The arrival of Alex Telles in the summer meant Luke Shaw has extra competition at left-back, a position Williams spent a chunk of last season playing.

We haven’t seen as much of Williams this term but it looks like Solskjaer will be deploying him on the opposite flank this season, unless he goes out on loan in January.

Williams is better cover for Aaron Wan-Bissaka than Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

Meanwhile, United have another right-back on their books with Diogo Dalot, who is currently playing for AC Milan on a season-long loan.

Williams has potential to be a top player and I think a loan spell in Germany would do him the world of good, but only if he is guaranteed more minutes than he’s getting at United which shouldn’t be difficult right now.

Tahith Chong is currently on loan at Werder Bremen.
