Van Persie reacts brilliantly to Cavani’s match-winning performance against Southampton

Just like the rest of us, ex-Manchester United striker Robin van Persie was delighted with Edinson Cavani’s match-winning display against Southampton at St. Mary’s.

United were trailing 2-0 at half-time before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to bring on the Uruguayan. It was Cavani who came on to assist Bruno Fernandes for our first goal on the hour mark.

The first goal saw Fernandes become one of just four United players to score in five consecutive away games — meaning he joins a list comprising of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Van Persie.

But it didn’t stop there as Cavani bagged two headed goals to win the game.

After the 3-2 win, Van Persie took to social media filled with delight, writing: “El Matador”.

Cavani now has three goals to his name in the Premier League and it wouldn’t surprise us if the former PSG talisman became a mainstay in the line-up.

The likes of Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial can learn a lot from watching Cavani. Especially in terms of movement which is an area of Martial’s game that is lacking at the moment.
