Video: Solskjaer explains bizarre boots incident with Man Utd match-winner Cavani

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes match-winner Edinson Cavani ‘might have to learn’ after failing to be ready for his second-half substitution.

Cavani inspired United to the most incredible of comeback victories against Southampton but was initially a subject of criticism as he replaced Mason Greenwood.

The Uruguayan goalscorer left United effectively down to 10-men for 30 seconds after the break as he was tying up his laces.

Solskjaer explained at full-time that Cavani may not have been able to warm-up on the pitch, then realised that he needed to change his boots that had bigger studs.

Thankfully for Solskjaer, once finally ready, Cavani made a monumental impact with two goals and an assist as he transformed the game.

And the two decisive moments came with his head as he expertly nodded a deflected shot from Bruno Fernandes and cross from Marcus Rashford to complete the dramatic turnaround.

But when asked if all was forgiven, Solskjaer suggested Cavani should not simply be excused and should have been ready from the start.
