Could someone tell Sam Johnstone is he supposed to stay on his line?
Good job there wasn’t more drama at Old Trafford on Saturday.
There could have easily been and it would have sent West Brom boss Slaven Bilic through the roof.
Bruno Fernandes was the hero for Manchester United because it was his penalty which won us the game. Our first home win of the Premier League season!
The Portugal international converted from the penalty spot to win the game, but the drama came moments before the goal went in.
Fernandes, 26, conceded a penalty which was later overturned and moments later found himself taking one up the other end of the pitch, only for his initial take to be saved by Sam Johnstone.
However, it was pointed out by VAR that Johnstone stood off his line before the ball was kicked.
Fernandes eventually converted from his second attempt to give his side the lead, however, a behind-the-goal photo shows that Johnstone stood off his line again.
So, had Fernandes missed his re-take, he’d have likely been awarded a second re-take due to the same offence.
Check the photo below:
And the maddest part is, if Bruno Fernandes had missed his second penalty, he would have gotten another.
Sam Johnstone was a mile off. https://t.co/N4RFmKxRVt pic.twitter.com/7h7K83EkCX

Excellent pic showing two United players clearly breaking law 14 encroachment.Penalty retake should be the outcome. This is in the VAR remit and penalties hhave been ordered to be retaken.Just one more example of the wrong implementation of the laws in that game
