It sounds like Manchester United were close to signing Barcelona wondered Ansu Fati during the summer.
Ansu Fati is the most talented youngster emerging in Spain at the moment and with Barcelona going through a difficult time right now, the 18-year-old could seek assurances elsewhere.
The Spain international’s agent is well known to Manchester United, too, and Sport claim Jorge Mendes reached a deal for the player to join the Red Devils for around €150m before Barcelona decided to pull the plug on the move.
That would have been a solid backup for Sancho because Fati arguably has a higher ceiling than for the Englishman, who has struggled at Borussia Dortmund this season.
The 18-year-old is getting plenty of game time in the Barcelona first team having already managed 43 appearances and 13 goals.
Wherever he ends up, and that could mean staying at Barcelona, Fati is destined for the very top but it won’t be cheap to take him away from Camp Nou.
But United could really do with a tricky winger and Fati has the pace to burn defenders.
