After a difficult few months in the media spotlight, Harry Maguire seems to be getting back into the swing of things.

During the international break he captained England against the Republic of Ireland and scored in that game. We are hoping he can build on that now the internationals are finished for 2020, and, by that I mean helping Manchester United keep more clean sheets.

As per @WhoScored on Twitter, the United captain has been the most successful when it comes to aerial duels across Europe’s top five leagues this season.

Not bad for a player who has been heavily criticised!

With a success rate of 89.2 per cent, Maguire has outperformed Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, who is second in the charts with 88.5 per cent.

In third place is Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma with a success rate of 85.2 per cent.

The list only applies to centre-backs who have attempted more than 25 aerial duels since the new season began.

It comes at a time the PFA has decided to call for restrictions on heading in training as concerns are raised over former players being diagnosed with dementia.
