Man United main contenders to land highly-rated Ligue 1 starlet

Manchester United are reportedly one of the three main contenders to land Rennes starlet Eduardo Camavinga.

Camavinga, 18, joined Rennes’ youth academy in 2013 for an undisclosed fee and after climbing the Ligue 1 side’s ranks, the French teenager has gone on to emerge as one of the most highly-rated prospects in world football.

The talented midfielder has already featured in over 50 matches in all competitions for Rennes’ senior first-team and after making his international debut earlier this year, Camavinga has netted once in two games for France.

However, after a hugely successful breakthrough with club side Rennes, Camavinga has been linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 side.

According to a recent report in Thursday’s written edition of Marca (via Sports Witness), this season is expected to be the teenage sensation’s last.

Marca’s report claims that alongside United in the queue to lure the young Frenchman away from Roazhon Park are Paris-Saint Germain and Real Madrid.

It is understood that Camavinga would only be available for a whopping £62m (€70m) which could nudge the likes of Real Madrid further down the pecking order.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Real Madrid are believed not be in the same kind of financial position they had been known for in previous years.

Given the precarious Real Madrid find themselves in, Marca claim that for that kind of money, United could be the favourites to make an official move.
