Jadon Sancho deals blow to Borussia Dortmund with future transfer plans

Jadon Sancho wants to leave Borussia Dortmund next year, according to reports.

Manchester United were heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho throughout the summer transfer window but a deal never materialised to bring the England international to Old Trafford.

Todofichajes believe Sancho has informed the club that this will be his final year in Germany as he wants to leave next summer.

Do we think United will go back in for Sancho?

That will depend on a number of factors. I suspect uncertainty over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future to drag on, and if we clinch Champions League football again this season the Glazers will likely continue to penny pinch as they only really seem to spend when it’s needed to get us back into Europe’s biggest competition.

Solskjaer wanted to sign Sancho last summer which tells you he wanted a right winger as his priority. The transfer window resulted in United buying two players who can play in that position: Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri.

We’ve seen neither because Diallo won’t be joining the club until January (still with Italian outfit Atalanta), while Pellistri has played for the youth teams. U23s boss Neil Wood believes the experience the latter is gaining will prove invaluable.

Wood was asked about the young winger’s progress and said (via MEN): “We’ve not had much access to him really, he’s been training with the first team a lot and training well with the first team, so it’s going to take time to adapt.

“It’s not easy to come to a different country and hit the ground running, you see that at the highest level. So it’s great for him to get on the pitch and get some minutes behind him and a bit of match sharpness. It will help him in the long run.

“I know tonight [at Morecambe] is not the ideal situation for him, but it can only benefit him being out on the pitch.”
