Gary Neville: Mourinho winning Premier League with Spurs would alarm Man United fanbase

When Gary Neville says alarm does he mean trigger?

Jose Mourinho winning the Premier League title would definitely trigger Manchester United fans.

A 1-0 win over West Brom, who we face after the November international break, has put Spurs on 17 points after eight games — and one point off the top of the league.

It goes without saying that Mourinho’s side have had a better start to the season than us, but it’s a long campaign and they’ve had their problems with consistency and burning out in the past.

However, many are suggesting Mourinho could win a fourth Premier League title with Spurs.

Neville thinks it could happen because Mourinho apparently has the forward players to do it.

“I said a couple weeks ago on Monday Night Football that Spurs couldn’t win the league, and I still don’t think they can,” he said on the Gary Neville Podcast.

“But I do agree with Jamie Carragher that it would be the most outstanding story to see Jose Mourinho win the Premier League with Tottenham.

“It would be one of the great stories, because Tottenham don’t win leagues!

“He’s got the forward players to do it. You think of the strike force and the goal — it’s incredible.”

It would hurt because the the best Mourinho did with United was a second place finish in the league.

Ed Woodward’s face would be priceless…

United obviously has a long climb ahead of them but I wouldn’t rule us out finishing above Spurs in the Premier League come May.

With Mourinho in charge they are always close to a crisis.

Our focus needs to be on ourselves and Solskjaer making his side consistent. Since becoming manager it has gone up and down far too often, and I’m sure he’s feeling the pressure now with Mauricio Pochettino still without a job.
